Overview:

This worksheet helps students calculate the perimeter and area of irregular shapes. Designed for students in years 5 and 6.

How the Activity Works:

Students are presented with a series of irregular shapes and must determine how to divide them into familiar regular shapes in order to calculate the area. Students calculate the area of each smaller section and sum the values to find the total area. For the perimeter, students add the lengths of all outer edges. This worksheet encourages students to independently identify strategies for breaking down complex shapes, reinforcing their understanding of geometric properties.
