How the Activity Works:

Students will be presented with a series of headlines that use emotive language to attract attention or elicit an emotional response. Their task is to rewrite each headline, removing the emotive language while keeping the factual meaning intact. For example, the headline "Unbelievable World Cup upset as Spain loses to Australia!" could be rewritten as "Spain loses to Australia in World Cup match." This activity helps students understand how language influences the tone of a story and develops their ability to use neutral, objective language.
