Pathos, Logos & Ethos Sort

EASYTEACHING.NET

Overview:

A cut-and-paste activity where students sort persuasive statements into categories of pathos, logos or ethos. Designed for year 5 and 6 students.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify and classify persuasive techniques used in advertising.
  • Understand the differences between pathos (emotional appeal), logos (logical appeal), and ethos (credibility appeal).
  • Develop analytical skills by evaluating persuasive strategies in real-world contexts.

How the Activity Works:

Students are provided with a selection of persuasive statements from advertisements. They cut out each statement and paste it into the correct category: pathos, logos or ethos. The activity encourages hands-on engagement while reinforcing understanding of persuasive techniques.
