Create Grassland Food Web

EASYTEACHING.NET

Overview:

This hands-on activity allows students to build their own grassland food web by cutting and pasting animals and plants to demonstrate the relationships within a grassland ecosystem.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the concept of food webs and how energy flows through an ecosystem.
  • Identify the roles of producers, consumers, and predators in a grassland biome.
  • Develop fine motor skills and creativity through a cut-and-paste activity.

How the Activity Works:

Students are provided with images of various grassland animals and plants, including producers (e.g., grass), primary consumers (e.g., rabbits), and predators (e.g., lions). They cut out the images and arrange them to create a food web, connecting the animals and plants with arrows to show energy flow. This activity is ideal for science lessons on ecosystems and habitats, helping students understand how organisms in the grassland interact and depend on each other.
