Adding Time, 30-Min Intervals

EASYTEACHING.NET

Overview:

An activity designed to help students add elapsed times to start times and write the end times in both analogue and digital formats. Students will work with times in 30-minute intervals. Designed for middle years students.

Learning Objectives:

  • Add elapsed times to start times to find end times.
  • Represent end times on both analogue and digital clocks.
  • Develop time calculation skills by working with 30-minute intervals.

How the Activity Works:

Students are presented with start times on analogue clocks and given elapsed times (in 30-minute intervals). They will add the elapsed times to the start times to calculate the corresponding end times. Once the end time is determined, students will represent it both on analogue clocks and in digital format. This activity helps students practise adding time and reinforces their ability to represent times in different formats.
