Estimate & Order Duration of Events (1)
Overview:
This activity helps students estimate and order the duration of different events, from the shortest to the longest. It encourages students to use their understanding of time to compare activities based on how long they think each one might take. Designed for early years students.
Learning Objectives:
- Estimate how long different activities might take.
- Order events based on their estimated duration (shortest to longest).
- Develop an understanding of time through practical examples of everyday events.
How the Activity Works:
Students are given a set of pictures or descriptions of events such as wrapping a present, painting a house, and playing soccer. They will cut out each event and then estimate how long each one takes. After making their estimates, students will arrange the events in order, starting with the shortest and ending with the longest duration. This hands-on activity helps students engage with time concepts by connecting them to real-life experiences, such as estimating how long different tasks might take.
