EASYTEACHING.NET

Overview:

A worksheet where students identify whether pathos, logos, or ethos has been used in various persuasive statements. Designed for year 5 and 6 students.

Learning Objectives:

  • Recognise and differentiate between pathos (emotional appeal), logos (logical appeal), and ethos (credibility appeal).
  • Analyse persuasive statements to determine which mode of persuasion is used.
  • Develop critical thinking skills by evaluating the effectiveness of persuasive techniques.

How the Activity Works:

Students read a selection of persuasive statements and decide whether each one uses pathos, logos, or ethos. They write ‘Pathos,’ ‘Logos,’ or ‘Ethos’ next to each example. Statements include various advertising and persuasive techniques, such as credibility-based endorsements, emotional appeals, and logical reasoning.
