Persuasive Devices Match Up
EASYTEACHING.NET
Overview:
A cut-and-paste activity where students match persuasive technique examples to their corresponding devices. Designed for students in year 4 and year 5.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify and understand different persuasive devices.
- Recognise how persuasive techniques are used to influence an audience.
- Develop critical thinking skills by analysing persuasive language.
How the Activity Works:
Students are provided with a set of persuasive technique examples and a list of devices, including repetition, use of evidence, adjectives and adverbs, alliteration, modality, emotive language, rhetorical questions, and involving the reader. They cut out the examples and match them to the correct persuasive device. This hands-on activity reinforces students’ understanding of persuasive techniques and how they are applied in writing.
