Place 8 Game: 5-Digit Numbers

Overview:
A fun and strategic game designed to reinforce understanding of place value in 5-digit numbers. Players engage in recognising and matching place values while navigating the board. Designed for middle and upper years students. Laminate for a long-lasting resource.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify the place value of digits in 5-digit numbers.
- Develop strategic thinking by matching numbers to their correct place values.
- Enhance number fluency and confidence in working with larger numbers.
How the Activity Works:
Players take turns rolling the dice to move around the outer squares. When a player lands on a square, they read the number and spin to determine a place value (e.g., ones, tens, hundreds, or thousands). They then place a counter on the corresponding square in the inner board that matches the place value of the number they landed on. For example, if a player lands on 1 504 and spins "hundreds," they place a counter on 500. The game continues until one player successfully places all 8 of their counters.
