Planets Cards
EASYTEACHING.NET
Overview:
A hands-on activity where students arrange cards of the planets in order of their distance from the Sun. Each card includes the planet name and an image to help with identification.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand the order of the planets in our solar system, from closest to furthest from the Sun.
- Develop critical thinking and organisational skills by arranging the planets based on distance.
- Improve planet identification skills through visual aids.
How the Activity Works:
The cards in this set each feature the name and an image of a planet. The cards can be used in a variety of ways:
- Place the planets in order: Students arrange the planet cards from Mercury (the closest to the Sun) to Neptune (the furthest).
- Create a display: Use the cards to create a classroom display of the planets in order. Students can also decorate the display with additional facts or fun information about each planet.
- Solar System Quiz: The cards can be used for a quiz game, where students draw cards and answer questions about each planet (e.g., "Which planet is known as the Red Planet?").
- Planet Research: Students can use the cards to spark a mini research project where they gather more details about each planet and present them in a creative format.
