Overview:

A probability activity designed for middle years students, where they cut and paste probability terms such as 'likely', 'even chance', 'unlikely', and 'impossible' to different events or scenarios. This helps students grasp the concept of chance and assess the likelihood of various outcomes.

Learning Objectives:

  • Apply probability terms like 'likely', 'even chance', 'unlikely', and 'impossible' to everyday events.
  • Develop an understanding of probability by evaluating the likelihood of various scenarios.
  • Build critical thinking skills by categorising events based on their probability.

How the Activity Works:

Students are given a set of events that describe different scenarios, such as "Flipping a coin 10 times and getting tails each time". They match probability words ('likely', 'even chance', 'unlikely', and 'impossible') to the correct events. Students cut and paste the probabilty cards into the correct event. This activity provides students with a hands-on way to understand and apply probability terms.
