Rainforest Layers Build
EASYTEACHING.NET
Overview:
Students build a rainforest scene by cutting and pasting the layers into their correct positions. This activity is designed for middle and upper years students.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify and understand the four layers of a rainforest: emergent, canopy, understory and forest floor.
- Recognise the structure and organisation of a rainforest ecosystem.
- Enhance fine motor skills and creativity through a hands-on activity.
How the Activity Works:
Students receive a worksheet with individual cut-out pieces representing the four rainforest layers. They cut out these pieces and arrange them in the correct order to construct a complete rainforest scene. Each layer is labelled and may include small illustrations or descriptions of the flora and fauna typically found in that layer. This activity allows students to visualise the rainforest's structure while reinforcing their knowledge of its layers.
