Overview:

Students match the names of the rainforest layers to a diagram by cutting and pasting the correct labels. This activity is designed for middle and upper years students.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify the four main layers of a rainforest: emergent, canopy, understory and forest floor.
  • Understand the unique characteristics of each layer.
  • Develop fine motor skills through cutting and pasting.

How the Activity Works:

Students are provided with a diagram of a rainforest, clearly divided into its four layers. Alongside the diagram are the names and descriptions of the layers, which students cut out and paste into the correct positions. This hands-on activity reinforces their understanding of the structure and features of a rainforest while building visual and spatial awareness.
