Identifying Persuasive Language in Adverts (1)
EASYTEACHING.NET
Overview:
Students identify persuasive language devices used in advertisements. Designed for students in the middle and upper years.
Learning Objectives:
- Recognise different persuasive language devices used in advertisements.
- Understand how persuasive language is used to influence an audience.
- Analyse and highlight specific persuasive techniques in a range of ads.
How the Activity Works:
Students are presented with a selection of advertisements. They colour code the different persuasive techniques used in each ad (such as rhetorical questions, emotive language, exaggeration, etc.) and explain how these techniques work to persuade the audience. This activity encourages students to analyse and understand the role of persuasive language in advertising.
