Describe a Habitat: Desert

EASYTEACHING.NET

Overview:

Describe a grassland habitat, then choose an animal that lives there. Explain its features that help it survive. Designed for students in years 5 and 6.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify the key characteristics of a grassland habitat.
  • Explain how an animal’s features help it survive in this environment.
  • Develop skills in observation, description, and drawing to represent survival adaptations.

How the Activity Works:

Students begin by describing the grassland habitat, including its vegetation, climate, and biodiversity. They then choose an animal that lives in this environment and explain how its physical and behavioural features support its survival. To extend their understanding, students draw and label the chosen animal, highlighting key adaptations that help it find food, shelter, and protection.
