Butterfly Life Cycle: Spin Wheel
EASYTEACHING.NET
Overview:
Build a spinning wheel to demonstrate the life cycle of a butterfly, designed for early and middle years students.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand the stages of a butterfly’s life cycle.
- Identify key stages such as egg, caterpillar (larva), pupa (chrysalis), and adult butterfly.
- Develop an understanding of the butterfly life cycle and its relevance to nature.
How the Activity Works:
Students will cut out both sheets and poke a hole through the centre point of each wheel. They will then use a drawing pin to fasten the wheels together, creating a spinning wheel that displays the different stages of a butterfly’s life cycle. As they assemble the wheel, they will arrange the stages of the life cycle in the correct order. This hands-on activity allows students to visually engage with the life cycle of a butterfly, reinforcing their understanding of butterfly growth in an interactive and fun way.
