Get Ready for the Sun!

EASYTEACHING.NET

Overview:

A creative activity where students draw and write to show how to make a boy sun safe, without the aid of a picture guide. This task encourages students to apply their understanding of sun safety practices. Suitable for early and middle years students.

Learning Objectives:

  • Apply knowledge of sun safety practices creatively.
  • Develop drawing and writing skills to communicate sun safety.
  • Reinforce the importance of sun protection in a personal and engaging way.

How the Activity Works:

Students are asked to draw a picture of a boy and then make him sun safe. They should think about and draw the sun safety practices they have learned, such as:

  • Adding a wide-brimmed hat to protect the boy’s face and neck.
  • Drawing sunglasses to protect his eyes from UV rays.
  • Adding sunscreen to his skin or drawing him seeking shade.
  • Ensuring he is wearing protective clothing, like long sleeves.

This activity helps reinforce the importance of sun protection while giving students the freedom to use their creativity to show how they would protect themselves from the sun.
