Beach Safety (Middle, Upper)
Overview:
This worksheet helps students identify and explain potential hazards at the beach, as well as understand the importance of beach safety. It also encourages them to identify different safety signs. Designed for middle and upper years students.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify common beach hazards and explain their risks.
- Understand and practise safety rules specific to the beach environment.
- Use creativity to design a sign that promotes beach safety.
How the Activity Works:
Students first fill in a table, identifying potential hazards at the beach, such as strong waves, sun exposure, sharp objects, and marine life. They then explain how these hazards can be avoided or managed. After completing the table, students design a safety sign, including rules like "Always swim between the flags" or "Wear sunscreen and a hat." This activity encourages students to think critically about beach safety while fostering creativity and reinforcing important life skills.
