Lakes & Ponds Safety (Early)

EASYTEACHING.NET

Overview:

This worksheet helps early years students identify hazards around lakes and ponds and understand how to stay safe in these natural environments through drawing. Designed for early years students.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify common hazards around lakes and ponds and understand why they are dangerous.
  • Recognise safety practices to prevent accidents around lakes and ponds.
  • Develop fine motor skills by drawing safe activities in natural water settings.

How the Activity Works:

Students fill in a table where they identify a hazard around lakes and ponds (e.g., slippery rocks, wildlife), explain why it is dangerous, and draw a picture of a way to stay safe (e.g., wearing shoes to avoid slipping, swimming with an adult). They will then draw a picture showing people being safe around a lake or pond. This hands-on activity encourages critical thinking about safety and reinforces the importance of following rules in natural water environments through drawing and creativity.
