Pool Safety (Middle, Upper)
Overview:
This worksheet helps students identify and explain potential hazards of swimming in a pool and understand the importance of pool safety. It also encourages them to design a safety sign. Designed for middle and upper years students.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify common pool hazards and explain their risks.
- Understand and practise pool safety rules.
- Use creativity to design a sign that promotes pool safety.
How the Activity Works:
Students first fill in a table, identifying potential hazards in and around the pool, such as slippery surfaces, deep water, and lack of supervision. They then explain how these hazards can be avoided or managed. After completing the table, students design a pool safety sign, including rules such as "No running" or "Always swim with an adult." This activity encourages students to think critically about safety while fostering creativity and reinforcing important life skills.
