EASYTEACHING.NET

Overview:

This activity challenges students to sort different foods into their correct food groups. It helps students learn the different categories of food, such as fruits, vegetables, proteins, grains, dairy, and fats/sweets. Designed for early and middle years students.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify various foods and understand which food group they belong to.
  • Develop an understanding of the importance of different food groups in a balanced diet.
  • Enhance sorting and categorisation skills.

How the Activity Works:

Students are provided with pictures of various foods and asked to cut and paste them into the correct food group categories: fruits, vegetables, proteins, grains, dairy, and fats/sweets. This activity encourages students to think critically about the foods they consume and how they contribute to a balanced diet. After sorting, students can discuss why certain foods belong to specific groups and the role each group plays in maintaining health.
