How We Change: Likes & Abilities

EASYTEACHING.NET

Overview:

This activity explores how our likes and abilities change as we grow, encouraging students to reflect on how babies, toddlers, children and teenagers develop new skills and preferences. Designed for early years students.

Learning Objectives:

  • Recognise the changes in likes and abilities at different life stages.
  • Understand how development affects what we can do and what we enjoy.
  • Identify the skills and preferences associated with babies, toddlers, children and teenagers.

How the Activity Works:

Students are presented with a series of statements that reflect the likes and abilities of different life stages (e.g., “Babies can...” “Babies like...”). They will complete the sentences based on their understanding of how babies, toddlers, children and teenagers develop. For example, they might write “Babies can crawl,” or “Children like playing games.” This activity encourages students to think about how people grow and change in terms of abilities and interests at each stage.
