EASYTEACHING.NET

Overview:

This activity provides a map of North America with country borders but no labels. It is designed to help students identify the countries and learn about the geography of North America. Suitable for middle and upper years students.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify and label the countries of North America.
  • Develop map-reading and geographical skills.
  • Enhance knowledge of North America's countries and their locations.

How the Activity Works:

Students are given an unlabelled map of North America, showing only the borders of the countries. Their task is to label each country correctly. This can be followed by additional activities such as:

  • Researching and adding key facts about each country (e.g., capital cities, languages spoken, important landmarks).
  • Colouring each country in a different shade to visually distinguish them.
  • Learning about significant geographical features of North America, like the Rocky Mountains, the Great Lakes, or major rivers such as the Mississippi.

This activity helps students refine their map-reading skills while broadening their understanding of the countries and regions of North America.
