Overview:

This activity provides a map of Oceania with country borders but no labels. It is designed to help students identify the countries and learn about the geography of Oceania. Suitable for middle and upper years students.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify and label the countries of Oceania.
  • Develop map-reading and geographical skills.
  • Enhance knowledge of Oceania's countries and their locations.

How the Activity Works:

Students are provided with an unlabelled map of Oceania, showing only the borders of the countries. Their task is to label each country in the correct location. Additional activities could include:

  • Researching and adding key facts about each country (e.g., capital cities, languages spoken, significant landmarks).
  • Colouring each country in a different shade to visually distinguish them.
  • Learning about notable physical features of Oceania, such as the Great Barrier Reef, the Pacific Islands, or the mountains of Papua New Guinea.

This activity encourages map-reading skills while helping students build their understanding of the diverse countries and regions that make up Oceania.
