Race to 3 O’clock Game, 30 mins
Available only to premium membersOverview:
This interactive game helps students practise working with elapsed time, specifically focusing on 30-minute intervals. Players start with their clock set to 9 o’clock and roll the dice to move around the board, adding or subtracting time as directed by the squares they land on. The first player to reach 3 o’clock wins. Students will need an analogue clock to track their time throughout the game.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand and practise elapsed time, focusing on 30-minute intervals.
- Develop skills in adding and subtracting time.
- Enhance number sense and clock-reading abilities in a competitive setting.
How the Activity Works:
Each player begins with their clock set to 9 o’clock. They roll the dice to move around the board and follow the directions on the square they land on, which involve adding or subtracting 30-minute intervals from their current time. The goal is to be the first player to reach 3 o’clock. Students will use an analogue clock to help track the time as they make their way around the board. Laminate the game board and pieces for long-lasting use.
