Overview:

This game is designed to help students practise working with elapsed time in 5-minute intervals. Players start with their clock set to 9 o’clock and roll the dice to move around the board, adjusting the time as directed by the squares they land on. The first player to reach 3 o’clock wins. Students will need an analogue clock to keep track of their time.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand and practise elapsed time, focusing on 5-minute intervals.
  • Develop skills in adding and subtracting time.
  • Improve number sense and clock-reading abilities in a fun, interactive setting.

How the Activity Works:

Each player begins with their clock set to 9 o’clock. They roll the dice to move around the board and follow the instructions on the squares they land on, adding or subtracting 5-minute intervals from their clock. The first player to reach 3 o’clock wins. An analogue clock should be used to help students track time as they progress around the board. Laminate the game board and pieces for durability.
