Task Cards: Flips, Slides, Turns

Overview:
This set of 24 task cards helps students identify and classify different transformations, including flips, slides, and turns, by examining images. Students circle ‘flip’, ‘slide’, or ‘turn’ to match each transformation. This resource provides hands-on practice and visual support for understanding geometric movements. Designed for early and middle years students.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify and differentiate between flips, slides, and turns.
- Apply knowledge of geometric transformations to real-life examples.
- Develop spatial reasoning and visualisation skills.
How the Activity Works:
Each task card features an image of an object being transformed in one of three ways: flip, slide, or turn. Students carefully examine the image and circle the correct transformation. To extend the activity, students can describe the transformation using their own words or draw examples. Laminate the cards for repeated use in the classroom or at home.
