Using a Ruler Game

EASYTEACHING.NET

Overview:

A fun, hands-on game that helps students practise using a ruler to measure lengths in centimetres. Players roll dice and measure along a race track, marking their progress. The first player to cross the finish line wins. Designed for early to middle years students.

Learning Objectives:

  • Practise measuring lengths in centimetres.
  • Improve number recognition and counting with dice.
  • Develop fine motor skills and accuracy when using a ruler.

How the Activity Works:

In this game, two players take turns rolling dice. After rolling, they measure the corresponding number of centimetres along a race track using a ruler, marking the spot with a dot. They continue taking turns, rolling and measuring, until one player crosses the finish line. To ensure durability, laminate the game board for long-lasting use. This activity combines measurement practice with a fun, competitive race format.
