Overview:

A sorting activity designed to help students match different representations of fractions, such as words, fraction symbols, and visual models. Designed for early and middle years students. Laminate for a long-lasting resource.

Learning Objectives:

Recognise and match fractions in word form, fraction symbol, and visual model.
Develop an understanding of fractions through visualisation.
Build familiarity with the concept of equivalent fractions.

How the Activity Works:

Students sort cards that display fractions in word form, as a fraction symbol, and as a visual model with coloured-in circles. The cards are arranged to match each representation of the fraction correctly. A self-checking mechanism allows students to verify their matches as they go, helping to reinforce their understanding of fractions.
