Overview:

A fun and interactive game designed to help students practise multiplying numbers by multiples of 10. Players use their knowledge of basic multiplication facts to solve problems like 5 × 50 or 6 × 30, placing their counters on the board as they aim to be the first to get 4 in a row. Designed for middle to upper years students.

Learning Objectives:

  • Practise multiplying numbers by multiples of 10.
  • Strengthen mental multiplication strategies using known facts.
  • Develop strategic thinking and friendly competition in a game setting.

How the Activity Works:

This two-player game involves each player taking turns to solve multiplication problems such as 4 × 60 or 7 × 20. Players must answer correctly to place a counter on the game board. The goal is to be the first player to get four counters in a row, either horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. To make the game more durable, laminate the board for long-lasting use. This activity reinforces multiplication skills while encouraging strategic planning and teamwork.
