Available only to premium members
EASYTEACHING.NET

Overview:

A board game where students race along the river by rolling two dice and moving their marker the corresponding number of spaces. They encounter special spaces, including swinging monkey spaces that direct them along arrows.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify and practise recognising odd and even numbers.
  • Develop strategic thinking by choosing movement directions at the start.
  • Engage in turn-taking and fair play in a competitive setting.

How the Activity Works:

Students take turns rolling dice and moving their marker along the river by the sum of the numbers rolled. At the start, they can choose which direction to move. If they land on a swinging monkey space, they must follow the arrow to a new position. The first player to reach a ‘Finish!’ space wins the game.
