Word Search Builder: 8x8 Grid

Overview:

This word search template (8x8) allows students to create a word search using their list of spelling words.

Learning Objectives:

• Reinforce spelling word recognition and recall.
• Develop problem-solving skills through word searches.
• Practise creating and completing puzzles independently and with peers.

How the Activity Works:

Students begin by writing their focus spelling words in the provided space. They then use the blank grid to hide each word by placing one letter per box, filling the remaining spaces with random letters. Once all words are hidden, students exchange worksheets with a partner and attempt to find each other’s hidden words. This process strengthens both spelling and visual scanning skills while promoting collaboration.
