Place Value Duel (3-digits)

EASYTEACHING.NET

Overview:

A two-player place value game where students draw cards and strategically place them in hundreds, tens or ones columns to create the largest possible three-digit number. Designed for early and middle years students.

Learning Objectives:

  • Develop understanding of place value in three-digit numbers.
  • Practise strategic thinking and decision-making.
  • Reinforce comparing and ordering numbers.

How the Activity Works:

Players take turns drawing cards and deciding where to place each card on their place value board: hundreds, tens or ones. The aim is to create the largest possible number. Once all three columns are filled, players compare their numbers to determine the winner. This game encourages students to apply place value knowledge while developing strategic thinking.
