Regular & Irregular Shapes Sort

EASYTEACHING.NET

Overview:

Students classify shapes as regular or irregular by cutting and pasting them into the correct category. Designed for students in year 3 and year 4.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify and differentiate between regular and irregular shapes.
  • Develop an understanding of shape properties, including side lengths and angles.
  • Practise fine motor skills through cutting and pasting.

How the Activity Works:

Students cut out a set of 2D shapes from the worksheet and sort them into two categories: regular and irregular. Regular shapes have equal sides and angles, while irregular shapes do not. This activity helps students develop a deeper understanding of geometric properties and classification.
