Interpret Data: School

Overview:
This worksheet encourages middle and upper years students to read and interpret data from a bar graph that shows the favourite subjects of boys and girls in Year 6. Students will use the information to answer questions about subject popularity and the differences between the preferences of boys and girls.
Learning Objectives:
- Interpret data presented in a bar graph.
- Compare the preferences of boys and girls across different subjects.
- Identify the most and least popular subjects for both boys and girls.
- Calculate the differences in preferences between groups.
How the Activity Works:
Students will examine the bar graph displaying the number of boys and girls who selected each subject as their favourite. The worksheet includes questions that guide students to analyse the data, such as determining the number of students who favoured specific subjects, identifying the most and least popular choices, and comparing the preferences of boys and girls. This activity helps students develop their data interpretation and critical thinking skills while reinforcing the ability to analyse and compare information presented in graphical form.
