Jellybeans & Probability (Yr 3,4)

EASYTEACHING.NET
Overview:
A probability activity where students colour jellybeans to match given probability statements. Designed for year 3 and 4 students.
Learning Objectives:
- Interpret and apply probability terms such as more likely, less likely, certain, and impossible.
- Create visual representations to match probability scenarios.
- Develop reasoning skills by adjusting the number of coloured jellybeans to reflect probability statements.
How the Activity Works:
Students are presented with collections of jellybeans and a set of probability statements, such as "Picking out a blue jellybeans is more likely than a green" and "Picking out a yellow jellybeans is less likely than a blue." They colour the jellybeans to make each statement true, adjusting the quantities to reflect the likelihood described. This activity provides a practical and engaging way for students to develop their understanding of probability through hands-on visual problem-solving.
