What Am I? Shape Riddle
EASYTEACHING.NET
Overview:
Students create a shape riddle by writing clues to describe a mystery 2D or 3D shape. Designed for early to middle years students.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify and describe the properties of 2D and 3D shapes.
- Develop critical thinking and reasoning skills through clue writing.
- Practise clear and descriptive writing.
How the Activity Works:
Students choose a shape and draw it in the box at the bottom of the worksheet. They then write four clues about their shape, focusing on its properties such as the number of sides, edges, faces, or vertices. Once completed, the riddles can be displayed around the classroom for others to solve, making this a fun and interactive way to reinforce shape recognition.
Example Clues for a Triangle:
- I have three sides.
- I have three corners.
- You can find me in road signs and pizza slices.
