Blank Fact Family Houses

EASYTEACHING.NET

Overview:

A set of blank part-part-whole models designed to help learners consolidate the link between addition and subtraction. Students complete the models and use them to create matching fact families. Designed for early years students.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the relationship between addition and subtraction through fact families.
  • Strengthen skills in identifying missing parts and wholes in mathematical models.
  • Develop fluency in basic addition and subtraction facts by applying them to part-part-whole models.

How the Activity Works:

Students are provided with blank part-part-whole models where they fill in the missing parts or whole to complete the model. They then use these models to write out the corresponding fact families, creating two addition and two subtraction equations for each set of numbers. This activity helps reinforce the connection between addition and subtraction, allowing students to practice solving and creating fact families in a hands-on way.
