3-Digit Non-Standard Partitioning (3)

EASYTEACHING.NET
Overview:
Use number expanders and MAB representations to partition a 3-digit number in different ways. Designed for students in years 3 and 4.
Learning Objectives:
- Develop an understanding of place value in 3-digit numbers.
- Practise partitioning numbers in multiple ways.
- Strengthen number sense through flexible thinking about numerical representations.
How the Activity Works:
Students read a given 3-digit number at the top of the sheet and complete the number expanders by filling in the different ways the number can be partitioned. They also work with MAB (Base-10) representations to visualise the number using hundreds, tens, and ones. This hands-on activity reinforces place value concepts and encourages deeper understanding of number composition.
