Subtracting Time, 1-Min Intervals
Overview:
An activity designed to help students subtract elapsed times to find the start time, using both analogue and digital clocks. The times are in 1-minute intervals, and students will work with end times and calculate the corresponding start times. Designed for upper years students.
Learning Objectives:
- Subtract elapsed times in 1-minute intervals to find the start times.
- Write the start times in both analogue and digital formats.
- Strengthen skills in time subtraction and representing times accurately.
How the Activity Works:
Students are given end times in analogue and digital forms, along with an elapsed time in 1-minute intervals. They need to subtract the elapsed time from the end time to determine the start time. Once calculated, students will represent the start time on both an analogue clock and in digital format. This activity helps students practise subtracting 1-minute intervals and reinforces their ability to visualise and represent times accurately in both formats.
