What’s the Finish Time? 5-Min Intervals (1)
EASYTEACHING.NET
Overview:
An activity designed to help students calculate the finish times after adding elapsed times in 5-minute intervals. Designed for students in years 3 and 4.
Learning Objectives:
- Add elapsed times in 5-minute intervals to calculate the finish time.
- Represent the finish time in both analogue and digital formats.
- Strengthen skills in time addition and understanding the relationship between analogue and digital clocks.
How the Activity Works:
Students are given a start time shown on an analogue clock and an elapsed time (e.g., 5 minutes, 10 minutes, etc.). They then add the elapsed time to the start time and work out the finish time, recording it on both analogue and digital clocks. This activity helps students practise calculating finish times with 5-minute intervals and reinforces their ability to represent times in both formats.
