Elapsed Time Using Timelines, 15-Min Intervals (2)

EASYTEACHING.NET
Overview:
An activity designed to help students calculate elapsed time using blank number lines. Students will work with start and end times that are in 15-minute intervals (o'clock, quarter past, half past, and quarter to), using the number line to calculate the elapsed time. Designed for middle years students.
Learning Objectives:
- Calculate elapsed time using blank number lines.
- Understand and apply time intervals of 15 minutes (o'clock, quarter past, half past, and quarter to).
- Strengthen time-telling and time calculation skills through visual tools.
How the Activity Works:
Students are provided with start and end times in 15-minute intervals, along with a blank number line. Using the number line, students calculate the elapsed time by counting along from the start time to the end time. They then record the elapsed time. This activity helps students visualise the passage of time and strengthens their understanding of how time intervals relate to each other.
