Overview:

A sorting activity designed for middle years students to classify angles as right angles, bigger than right angles, or smaller than right angles. This activity helps students deepen their understanding of angle size and classification.

Learning Objectives:

  • Recognise and classify angles as right, bigger than right, or smaller than right.
  • Understand the relationship between angles and the 90° benchmark of a right angle.
  • Strengthen spatial reasoning and classification skills.

How the Activity Works:

Students are provided with a set of angle cards depicting various angles. They are tasked with sorting the angles into three categories: right angles (exactly 90°), angles bigger than right angles (greater than 90°), and angles smaller than right angles (less than 90°). Students cut and paste the angle cards into the correct sections. This hands-on activity allows students to practice recognising different angle types and develop their understanding of angles in relation to right angles.
