Learning Doubles

EASYTEACHING.NET
Overview:
An activity where students draw doubles to complete equations and then write the corresponding doubles equation. Designed for early years students.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand and apply the concept of doubles in addition.
- Strengthen number sense and develop fluency in basic addition.
- Visualise and solve doubles equations.
How the Activity Works:
Students are given images with one part of a double missing (e.g., a spider with four legs on one side) and are asked to draw the missing part to complete the visual. They then write the corresponding doubles equation (e.g., 4 + 4 = 8). This activity helps reinforce the concept of doubles and supports students in becoming more confident with addition, particularly with repeated addition.
