Overview:

This worksheet introduces a strategy to solve 3x multiplication facts by using 2x facts. Designed for students in year 3 and 4.

Learning Objectives:

  • Learn to use 2x facts to solve 3x multiplication facts.
  • Strengthen multiplication skills by breaking down 3x problems into smaller steps.
  • Improve mental math strategies for quicker and more accurate multiplication.

How the Activity Works:

Students use the strategy of calculating the 2x multiplication fact and then adding one more group of the same number to solve 3x problems. For example, to solve 4x3, students first calculate double 4 (which is 8), then add another group of 4 to get 12. This method helps students solve 3x multiplication facts more efficiently by using a known multiplication fact as a foundation.
