Compare Collections of Coins, Aust. (2)

Overview:
In this activity, students count collections of Australian coins and compare the totals to determine who has more money. Students will work with different pairs of people, each having a collection of coins, and use their counting skills to figure out which person has the larger total amount of money. Designed for year 3 and 4 students.
Learning Objectives:
- Count and compare collections of Australian coins.
- Use addition to calculate the total value of different collections.
- Develop skills in comparison and understanding the value of money.
How the Activity Works:
Students are shown collections of Australian coins belonging to different pairs of people. They must count the coins in each collection and then compare the totals to determine who has more money in each pair. This activity encourages students to practise counting and comparing amounts, while also helping them reinforce their understanding of currency values.
