Representing 2-Digit Numbers (2)

EASYTEACHING.NET
Overview:
Represent 2-digit numbers in different ways by writing them in words, using MAB representations, completing a number expander, and writing expressions in standard notation. Designed for students in years 1 and 2.
Learning Objectives:
- Develop an understanding of 2-digit numbers and their place value.
- Practise writing numbers in words and representing them using MABs and number expanders.
- Strengthen number sense by expressing numbers using standard notation.
How the Activity Works:
Students are given a set of 2-digit numbers and complete four tasks for each: writing the number in words, representing it using MAB blocks, filling in a number expander to show different ways to partition the number, and writing an expression in standard notation (e.g., 80 + 2 = 82). This activity builds foundational place value skills and encourages multiple representations of numbers.
