Find Angles in a Picture (1)

EASYTEACHING.NET

Overview:

An image of an art easel where students search for and identify different types of angles (right, acute, and obtuse), colour coding them accordingly. Designed for students in year 3 and year 4.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify and classify angles as right, acute, or obtuse.
  • Recognise angles in real-world objects, such as an art easel.
  • Enhance observation and classification skills through a practical, hands-on activity.

How the Activity Works:

Students are given an image of an art easel, where they are tasked with tracing over the right angles in red, acute angles in green, and obtuse angles in blue. They are also encouraged to keep a tally of how many of each angle type they identify. This activity allows students to connect their knowledge of angles to everyday objects, such as the frame and structure of an art easel. By colour coding the angles, they gain a deeper understanding of different angle types and where they appear in familiar items.
