Find Angles in a Picture (2)

EASYTEACHING.NET

Overview:

An image featuring two houses where students search for and identify different types of angles (right, acute, and obtuse), colour coding them accordingly. Designed for students in year 3 and year 4.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify and classify angles as right, acute, or obtuse.
  • Recognise angles in a real-world context, such as in the design of houses.
  • Develop classification and observational skills through a hands-on activity.

How the Activity Works:

Students are given an image of two houses that includes various angles in the architecture. They trace over the right angles in red, acute angles in green, and obtuse angles in blue. While doing so, they keep a tally of how many of each type of angle they find. This activity helps students recognise how angles are present in the world around them, specifically in the structure of buildings. It reinforces their understanding of angle types in a practical setting and encourages them to pay attention to the angles found in everyday objects.
