Find Angles in a Picture (3)

EASYTEACHING.NET

Overview:

An abstract pattern image where students search for and identify different types of angles (right, acute, and obtuse), colour coding them accordingly. Designed for students in year 3 and year 4.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify and classify angles as right, acute, or obtuse.
  • Recognise angles in abstract designs.
  • Develop classification and observational skills through an engaging, hands-on activity.

How the Activity Works:

Students are given an abstract pattern image containing various angles. They trace over the right angles in red, acute angles in green, and obtuse angles in blue. While doing so, they keep a tally of how many of each angle type they find. This task encourages students to look for angles within more complex, abstract designs, enhancing their ability to identify and classify angles in both familiar and unconventional settings. Students can work individually or collaborate in pairs for discussion and accuracy.
